Okay, so I just recently learned about all the gnarly, neurotoxic, carcinogenic, jack-up-just-about-every-system-in-your-body chemicals that are found in almost every body product out there. Well I just pulled a big batch of body products out of my bathroom cabinet, read all the ingredient lists, and I gotta tell you, I am fuh-reaking out! Freaking out!!! There are chemicals from the naughty list (propylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfate, phthalates, parabens, artificial fragrance, artificial color) in EVERY PRODUCT I EXAMINED. And this isn’t even all my stuff! It was just the first batch I looked through!
And as if synthetic chemicals aren’t bad enough, I have an entire set of scented body sprays, that have glitter in them. Glitter! (You can even see the shimmer from the glitter in the picture.) “Gee, good luck liver and kidneys processing that GLITTER that is circulating through my blood!” Oink.
Just for kicks, I dug around under my kitchen sink as well – that’s where I keep my cleaning products. Now, for the most part, all my cleansers are made by the eco-friendly company Seventh Generation. But I definitely had a few ne’er-do-wells hanging around down there too, that I added to the heave-ho pile.
Now, to figure out how to properly dispose of these products (since they’re essentially hazardous waste!), and what I’m going to replace them with…
