A couple of weeks ago I was visiting a friend in Fairfax, and she took me to the Farmers’ Market in San Rafael, which incidentally, is the biggest one I’ve ever been to. It got me thinking that I needed to find out if there is a year-round Farmers’ Market in Sacramento. I used to go to one at the Downtown Plaza Mall on Thursdays, but it only runs during the summer. The one my dad goes to only runs in the summer. I just assumed all Farmers’ Markets only take place during the summer. Well you know what happens when you ASSume, right?
I did a little research, and it turns out there are four different Farmers’ Markets in the Sacramento area (each one happening on a different day of the week), and the one I used to go to is actually the ONLY one that is not year-round. Go figure. I heard the biggest one is on Sundays, in a huge parking lot downtown, where a couple of freeway overpasses intersect – which is what provides the coverage and allows it to take place year-round.
I checked it out and am so excited! It’s a good size, and has a wide range of produce/products. I am definitely going to start hitting it up. *If you live in the Sacramento area, this Farmers’ Market is located at 8th and W, in the State parking lot (under the freeway), and runs from 8a – noon. Check it out!
