A week ago I mentioned I started going to the Center for Spiritual Awareness, and that in their program they include a card with an affirmation printed on it, that you are supposed to carry around for the week. This week’s affirmation is: “I am loved. I am cherished. I am important to the Divine Mother. I see myself in her. I have love and compassion and joy. I am thankful for my earthly mother for bringing me here.”
Okay. I know what you’re thinking – the “Divine Mother”? (Probably because I’m thinking the same thing.) What does that even mean? Oh great. Is this one of those churches that believes God is a woman, or a Goddess? No. Divine Mother is simply another name for God, just as is Allah, Elohim, Yahweh, Jehovah, Lord, Creator, Supreme Being, Higher Power, etc, etc. I like this affirmation because while it reminds me that I am loved by my “earthly” family, I am also an important part of all of creation and am connected to all through Spirit. And really, isn’t that what we all want in life? To feel loved, valued, and connected?
