You know how I’ve been watching all these documentaries about factory farming? And how after viewing Food, Inc., ‘Glass Walls’, and ‘Meet Your Meat’, I decided to switch to a vegan diet just a couple of days ago? Well apparently this past week was Vegan Awareness Week. No wonder all these videos have been crossing my path! Who knew? Well today is World Vegan Day.
There is an ad in the Sacramento News & Review (SN&R) that talks about World Vegan Day. It gives options of different things vegans can do today to celebrate:
Watch ‘Dairy’s Dark Side: The sour truth behind milk’. This is a 10 min. hidden-camera investigation of Willet Dairy in Locke, NY. Willet Dairy is the largest dairy factory farm in NY. It was conducted by Mercy For Animals. I promise, you will never look at a glass of milk the same. (www.mercyforanimals.org/dairy)
Check out Never Felt Better Vegan Shop in Sacramento. Recently opened, the shop carries handmade goods, wallets, t-shirts, cookbooks, jewelry, cookware, and vegan food items. It is located at 2315-1/2 K Street, above Sugar Plum Vegan cafe. (www.nfbveganshop.com)
While you’re in the area, eat at Sugar Plum Vegan cafe. They serve up some of the most delicious vegan food in Sacramento. It’ll have you saying “I can’t believe it’s not butter… or meat… or cheese!” (www.sugarplumvegan.com)
