Yes To – Product Review

December 2, 2010

In my quest for healthier body products, I stumbled across Yes To, at Target of all places. Not a place I usually look for more natural body products, as they are more of your typical big-box store carrying conventional brands. But, hey. Maybe it’s a sign that retailers are catching on to what a growing number of people actually want.

Yes To combines organic fruits and vegetables – which are a great source of skin-enriching vitamins, with a mineral elixir from the Dead Sea. Their products do not contain propylene glycol, SLS, phthalates, parabens, artificial colors, or animal ingredients. They do not test on animals. They have five lines – Yes To Carrots, Yes To Cucumbers, Yes To Tomatoes, Yes To Baby Carrots (their baby line), and the newly added Yes To Blueberries. Each line serves a different purpose:

  • Yes To Carrots – Created to nourish skin and hair. Good for people with normal-to-dry skin or hair. The combination of carrots, shea butter, and sweet almond oil adds moisture.
  • Yes To Cucumbers – Created to soothe skin and hair. Good for people with sensitive skin, or color-treated hair. The combination of organic cucumber, aloe vera, and green tea is hydrating and soothing.
  • Yes To Tomatoes – Created to clear the skin. Good for people with combination-to-oily skin. The combination of tomatoes, salicylic acid, and witch hazel treats and prevents breakouts.
  • Yes To Baby Carrots – Their line of 100% natural baby products. Designed to nurture, soothe, and soften babies skin.
  • Yes To Blueberries – Created to refresh the skin and help fight signs of aging. The combination of blueberries, cotton thistle, and paracress flower improves skin firmness and diminishes fine lines

They have an extensive collection of products – covering face care, body care, hair care, lip care, baby care, and SPF. Here is what I have tried so far:

  • Yes To Carrots Hair & Scalp Mud Mask – Ingredients include spring water, Dead Sea water, Dead Sea mud, olive oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, macademia oil, algae extracts, sweet potato, pumpkin extract, carrot seed extract, carrot juice, pro-vitamin B5, chamomile extract, orange juice, cinnamon oil, apple vinegar, and rosemary extract. My hair feels pretty frizzy & fried sometimes, and this mask really does the trick.
  • Yes To Carrots Lip Butter – Ingredients include coconut oil, olive fruit oil, beeswax (this was purchased & used before I became vegan! haha), jojoba seed oil, sunflower seed oil, shea butter, orange peel extract, melon seed extract, pumpkin seed extract, and carrot root extract. This chapstick is certified USDA Organic. It has a great smell, and left my lips feeling really good.
  • Yes To Carrots Lip Gloss Playful Nude – Ingredients include castor seed oil, beeswax, peppermint oil, sunflower seed oil, and carrot root extract. It gets its’ color from titanium dioxide, mica, and iron oxides, as opposed to artificial colors or carmine (from bugs). The ingredients are 95% organic. This lip gloss is a great everyday nude shade.
  • Yes To Cucumbers Daily Makeover Conditioner Color Care – Ingredients include cucumber extract, dill extract, green pepper extract, Dead Sea water, sweet almond oil, chamomile extract, olive oil, broccoli extract, spinach extract, jojoba oil, calendula oil, silt extract, melon extract, wheat germ oil, pomegranate peel extract, beetroot extract, and olive leaf extract. It contains 99.6% natural ingredients. This conditioner really does have a soothing effect. Loved it.
  • Yes To Tomatoes Daily Volumizing Conditioner – Ingredients include tomato extract, red pepper extract, red tea extract, watermelon extract, Dead Sea water, sweet almond oil, chamomile extract, olive oil, jojoba oil, calendula oil, silt extract, wheat germ oil, pomegranate peel extract, and olive leaf extract. It contains 99.6% natural ingredients. This conditioner left my scalp feeling revitalized.

Now the catch is, since most of the ingredients in these products are fruit or vegetables, and they do not contain artificial preservatives, they have an expiration date. That’s fine with me though, since these product are so yummy, they didn’t last long in my house anyway! Now for the bad news – wah wah. The three hair products I tried all contain fragrance, and the lip balm contains flavor. No wonder they all smelled good enough to eat! This is a major bummer, because other than that, everything else is so good. Practically all of the other ingredients are things I would eat! So if they could just eliminate the fragrance/flavor, they’d be golden.

  1. Dawn says:

I am very health conscious! I read all labels and research products every chance I get. I came across YES TO products at Walgreens. I am very happy with the blueberry face moisture products being 46 years old. And also believe if you cant eat it don’t put it on your face. Great results and a glowing face! Here’s to being healthy!

  2. Thanks for this review. I discovered this brand only recently, so I´m curious what the reviews are, if it´s not a marketing bubble.
