January 1, 2011
Well, it’s been a year since I embarked on my journey to live more consciously. If you’ve been following my blog, you know that I have learned a lot this past year. I am not anywhere near the end of my journey though, and still have a lot more growing and changing to do. And considering it is New Year’s Day, what better time than today to figure out what I want to work on next?
Last year my new year’s resolution was to eliminate soda and coffee from my diet – which was a success. Well… a half-success. Partial success? Okay. Here’s the deal. I was successful in eliminating soda from my diet. I have, however, gone back to sometimes drinking coffee. I am okay with that though, because I am not drinking coffee the way I used to. I have stopped drinking flavored lattes, and caramel macchiatos – basically the “coffee-like” drinks I used to get that are really just a little bit of coffee loaded with a lot of flavored syrup, sugar, and milk. And also sometimes half-and-half. When I drink coffee now, I either drink straight black coffee, or an Americano, which is espresso plus hot water. No more of the sugary syrupy stuff. So I consider that a success as well.
My resolution for this year, is to start this blog. Wait, what? That doesn’t make any sense, considering this blog has been around for seven months now. Well if you’ve read the About page of this blog, you understand how that happened. If not, let me explain. I embarked on this journey to live more consciously back in January 2010. I had the idea to start a blog to write about my journey, a few months after that. Well, for a number of reasons, (not really even knowing exactly what a blog is, not knowing how to start one, not knowing what company to use to host my blog, coming up with the name for my blog – which took awhile because I figured if it was successful, I would be stuck with the name for a while, buying the domain, etc.), it took me a year to actually get it started. So while the journey started in January 2010, I didn’t start writing about it until January 2011. This is why all of my entries are post-dated. I am still in the process of catching it up to the current date.
But I did start it in January of this year. That was my resolution, and I did it. So… another success!
